Sonia Hendrix is the creator and visionary of PUSH Asheville Fashion and President of PR and fashion event company, PUSH Productions. Over the last three years Sonia has taken the Asheville fashion scene by storm promoting local fashion boutiques and designers to locals and tourists through social media and fashion shows. Sonia is a Junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Public Relations.

Dr. Alycia Fogle

Assistant Professor of Marketing at UNCA, Dr. Fogle earned her Doctorate’s in International Retail and Marketing and has consulted for fashion houses across the country. Dr. Fogle is an active member of the Asheville business community and is an inspiration to her students at UNCA.

Style Director, Visionary of Charleston Fashion Week, owned and produced by Charleston Magazine/Gulfstream Communications. Ms. Lucas is also the Style Director at Charleston Magazine, the sister publication to Asheville-based WNC Magazine. Lucas authors two style blogs and serves as a fashion correspondent on local television in Charleston.

Portfolio Review//Fashion Photography & Modeling
Bring your modeling or fashion photography portfolio to this review session. Here our HATCH Fashion industry experts will sit down with you personally to look over your work, critique it and offer you valuable advice that will give your career the edge it needs to succeed.

This segment will only last for 2 hours. Participants will be reviewed on a first come, first serve basis.


Fashion Show//At The Grove Arcade – April 16
Over the past several months designers, stylists and fashion photographers from across the southeast have submitted portfolios to the HATCH Fashion Committee for consideration to be selected as the official HATCH Fashion Groundbreakers. Winners will have the opportunity to be mentored by fashion industry professionals, gain exposure to new audiences in the eclectic Asheville area, and receive special media coverage throughout the April 14-17 event.

These select individuals will premiere their unique collections at a fashion show from inside one of Asheville’s most historic buildings, The Grove Arcade.

The event is free to the public and will be located at the North end of the Grove Arcade from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.


Competition//Groundbreaker Submission & Selection
HATCH groundbreakers are up-and-coming talent from every continent who submit their works in the HATCH Groundbreaker competition. Finalists are selected by a jury of industry professionals and brought to HATCH to join mentors and peers for a life-altering experience.

Mediums for submissions are limitless. Artists with talents related to all aspects of the fashion industry are encouraged to apply. This includes but is not limited to: designers, stylists, manufacturers, producers, photographers, innovators, and creators.

Workshop//Fashion Photo Shoot: CLASS FULL*******
Would you like to learn the basics of shooting professional fashion photo shoots? This workshop is for beginner and intermediate photographers who have their own cameras but are still in the early stages of getting to know their skill-set.

  • Learn to work with models, designers, and clients.
  • How to get to the concept of the photo
  • How to work with the team: Makeup, hair, model, stylist, sometimes designer or client.
  • How to work with the model. Professional (Directions) vs. Amateur (Instructions)
  • Shooting indoors
  • Shooting on location and studio

Only 15 spaces are available.
The workshop will be held April 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Led by Zaire Kacz

Zaire specializes in fashion photography, beauty, portrait, and wedding photography. Born in Venezuela, she recently relocated to Asheville, NC from Miami. Kacz works with fashion designers and photographers on both an international and national level, offering a unique perspective to HATCH Fashion.
